Pastor Jim Carlson
Pastor Jim became senior pastor at First Baptist Church in 2003. He served as co-pastor from July 2001 to December 2002. He has previously served congregations in New York, California, and Illinois. A native of the Chicago area, Jim is excited to be back in the Midwest, closer to family and friends.
He has worked with Pastor Caņedo to establish a Hispanic worship service on Sundays at 11:00pm as a part of the overall ministry of the church. Jim is fluent in Spanish, and has experience in ministry among Hispanics.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Judson College, a Master of Divinity from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from San Francisco Theological Seminary. He is currently a PhD candidate in New Testament at Marquette University. He is an Adjunct Professor of New Testament at Nashotah House Episcopal Seminary and Judson College. He has published an article entitled "Known in the Breaking of Bread" in the periodical Nova et Vetera. This summer he will be presenting a paper on the Epistle to the Hebrews at a conference in St. Andrews, Scotland. He has been married for seventeen years to his wife Michelle. They have a daughter named Emma.
